Ionospheric inversion of the Venus Express radio occultation data observed by Shanghai 25 m and New Norcia 35 m antennas TEXT SIZE: A A A

Researchers can infer properties of a planet's atmosphere by analyzing radio signals that pass through the atmosphere of the planet and are received at Earth. This article describes a study where the Venus Express spacecraft transmitted radio signals directed toward Earth as it orbited Venus. Since the path of some of these signals passed through the atmosphere of Venus, researchers can analyze these signals, giving them more insight into Venus' atmosphere.
