An application of the k-th nearest neighbor method to open cluster membership determination

Open clusters are collections of stars that form and evolve together as a group. As open clusters age, their motions through a galaxy can make them difficult to identify compared with background stars. This article introduces a new method which can better differentiate stars that are members of an open cluster compared to background stars, leading to improvements in this field.
