Deep Grief for the Passing of Sir WANG ShouGuan

We are immensely sadden by the passing of Sir WANG ShouGuan, who passed away at the age of 98 at 21:37 on January 28, 2021 in Beijing. We would like to express our deepest condolences.

 

 

Sir WANG ShouGuan is a famous astronomer, science educator, founder of radio astronomy in China, one of the founders of modern astrophysics in China, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, research professor of National Astronomical Observatories of Chinese Academy of Sciences, honorary professor of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, honorary president of Chinese Astronomical Society.

 

 

In this special period about epidemic prevention and control requirements of COVID-19, the funeral was simplified in respect of the opinions of the family members. The farewell ceremony of Sir WANG ShouGuan's body will be held in the East Auditorium of Beijing Babaoshan Funeral Home at 8:00 am on February 3, 2021 (Wednesday). Only representatives in Beijing are invited to attend the farewell ceremony.

 

 

At the same time, from 12 o 'clock on January 30 (Saturday) to 12 o 'clock on February 3 (Wednesday), 2021, A memorial hall for Sir WANG ShouGuan will be set up in the multi-function hall, Block A, National Astronomical Observatories of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

 

 

We deeply mourn and deeply cherish the memory of Sir WANG ShouGuan!
